A man is in critical condition following a house fire Saturday afternoon.
It happened around 1 p.m. near 27th Street South and Custer. When firefighters arrived at the scene they found heavy fire coming from a house and a vehicle.
They also discovered a man outside of the home who had been injured. He was taken by EMS to the burn center at Via Christi-St. Francis in critical condition.
Due to strong winds, additional crews were sent to assist, but firefighters were able to bring the fire under control quickly. The fire caused extensive damage to the home, but an estimate wasn’t available at the scene.
The cause is still under investigation.
