Miranda Lambert sings about it in her song "Automatic". Learning how to drive with '3 on the tree'.
Miranda and I don't have a lot in common. Her husband Blake and I like Pizza Hut and I learned to drive a manual transmission at the age of 13. It was a Ford F150....and amazing chariot. I nearly hit an apple tree, but I learned! The point is, now I feel like I could drive just about anything. The manual transmission is a lost art in this country. Go to Europe, it's the other way around. Good luck finding an automatic...but don't ask for automatic because that's what they call our manual transmission....HOLY COW, I'm confused.
Anyway, more and more "Driving Stick" is clearly becoming a generational thing. How do I know this? Easy! I give you today's LIFE OF CRIME LESSON #5: If you are going to commit a crime like CARJACKING be prepared for anything like DRIVING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. The young, would-be criminals from Seattle, Washington probably should have spent less time listening to Macklemore and more time at drivers ed. Needless to say, catching them was easy!
