I love my friend Jenny Mitchell's big heart.
She started a very unique theater troupe for kids with special needs. These are kids who would never be cast in a regular performance. And just because they have special needs doesn't mean they shouldn't have that same excitement of getting up in front of a crowd singing and dancing! This program teams these kids up with their peers so they CAN perform! This weekend, they are teaming up with the kids from Music Theater for Young People for a show, No Small Feat at the Mary Jane Teall Theater in Century II.
I love this program. I have done some benefits with Music Theater for Young People over the years and I see the absolute joy those kids have when they perform. That these special needs kids can have that same joy is SO wonderful. I also think the Music Theater kids will learn a lot from the experience too - compassion, unconditional love and I hope each of them feels proud of being part of it. I think it's going to be a production that anyone who is there- from the cast members to the audience members - will walk away feeling good.
There will be lots of singing, lots of dancing, some fun skits and most of all - LOTS of smiles. I will be emceeing each perfomance with my friend Sierra Scott and we would both love to see you there.
And to my friend Jenny; thank you for all your hard work. You are one in a million!
