If you know one thing about me, it's that I love animals. In particular my dog, Buddy. As many of you know, he was a little rescue puppy. I got him at seven weeks old and he was great with me, great in my house, very smart but VERY afraid of everything. Scooters, skateboards, bikes, KIDS (still is afraid of kids) and actually pretty much afraid of anyone he didn't know.
After my dear rottie Lily died, I decided to attempt to rehabilitate him. I realized the guy could learn a trick in minutes but he was really lacking in trust and self-confidence. Last April we went to the Dog Show at the Pavilions at the Kansas Coliseum and I watched the agility trials with my sister and my niece and my sister and I at pretty much the same time said "Buddy should be doing this!" I enrolled him in a foundations class in the summer to see if he could do it - he passed with flying colors and just completed his third agility class.
I never realized just how training classes could benefit a dog. If you have a dog with issues, obedience, agility or even socialization classes could be great for you. We go to the Wichita Dog Training Club and I LOVE it. And I love how Bud's tail wags when he's doing his thing...it makes him happy and it makes me PROUD! Look at how far this guy has come in just a matter of months!
