As the music director - my JOB is to listen to music!!!! How I got that lucky to have a job listening to music I'll never know. But for the past week, I have been listening to one CD non-stop in my car and another non-stop in my office.
My "car" CD - Ronnie Dunn's new self-titled CD!
I am loving this new CD. I had high expectations and to be REALLY honest, I like it better than any Brooks & Dunn CD. Period. (I'm not a Kix hater by any means, I just really love this CD). I think what I always loved most about Brooks & Dunn was Ronnie's voice. I'm sure there had to have been a lot of pressure on Ronnie since he was going out on his own. But he stepped up to the plate and hit it out of the park. This CD has great up up-tempo songs like the first cut "Singer in a Cowboy Band" and also songs that will touch your heart like "Cost Of Livin'". What I love about Ronnie Dunn is he can sing everything well.
This definitely is one of those CDs that the more I hear it, the more I love it. You'll get stuck on one song and hit replay ten times in a row and then you'll do it again with another song. GREAT CD!
And in my office I can't quit listening to: Randy Travis 25th Anniversary Celebration!
This is another CD I thought could be really great. I kind of figured I would love it or be just kind of OK with it. I actually love it. The first cut with Brad Paisley ("Everything and All") had me hooked. The CD has some amazing musicians as every song is a collaboration - Zac Brown Band, Josh Turner, Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Jamey Johnson and more. This CD has some of the Randy Travis songs you love like "He Walked On Water" but he's singing with Kenny Chesney and it's GREAT! Or "Forever and Ever Amen" with Zac Brown. But I actually like some of the lesser-known songs just as much or even better - like "Can't Hurt A Man" with Tim McGraw. It has 17 cuts on it!!!
I need someone to go buy this CD so we can compare notes. I wonder if anyone else is loving it as much as me!
