I am so thankful for my little Buddy and my good health!

I am seriously thankful for him. I heard The Dog Whisperer once say "you don't always get the dog you want, you get the dog you need". I think that's so true. I needed Buddy and he needed me.
I went through a tough spot late summer/early fall. I had an early-cancerous tumor and had to have it removed - of course it was all I could think about ALL the time. So one day I was walking Buddy and he had such a pep in his step (like always), stopping to smell everything (like always) and 100% enjoying his walk (like always). I thought it's so funny because we walk this walk every morning and it's like he's doing it for the first time. That's when I realized that Buddy was living 100% in the moment. He WAS enjoying his walk like it was his first time he'd ever been there...and me, I couldn't quit worrying about what was down the road. That's when I realized I needed to take a lesson from Buddy's play book. I had to enjoy each moment I have and if I am spending time worrying about what MIGHT happen, I'm not enjoying what IS happening.
I'm thankful that Buddy taught me that lesson.
Right now today, the tumor is gone and I am not going to worry about it coming back. If it does, it does and I'll deal with it then. In the meantime I will enjoy the walks and take time to stop and smell the poop. :) OK, I prefer to stop and smell the roses; Buddy likes the poop.
Happy Thanksgiving - and please take time to enjoy your family; enjoy the food; enjoy the football games and be thankful for what you HAVE.
