Friday, February 8th is Dan Dillon Day here in Wichita and I don't think as a city we could honor a more deserving person.
There are so many things I want to say to Dan but I can't. I get too emotional and I know I would just cry. I actually wrote him an email telling him how much he means to me. But what I want to say more than anything is thank you, Dan.
Thank you for getting up WAY before the sun came up to report the news.
Thank you for leaving your house in the middle of the night or the middle of your weekend to cover severe weather.
Thank you for the one zillion miles you put on your Mobile Unit chasing storms.
Thank you for the COUNTLESS, and I mean countless hours you spent tracking storms.
Thank you for always being that calm in the storm - literally.
Thank you for keeping us safe.
Thank you setting the bar high - and making the rest of us better employees.
Thank you never complaining, even though I KNOW you worked long hours.
Thank you for being a part of this amazing station for 34 years.
Thank you for caring about the people in and around Wichita.
Thank you being a big part of my life.
Thank you for being a true friend.
Thank you to your family for sharing you with all of us for so many years. I hope you have more time to spend with your beautiful granddaughter.
I thank you, I appreciate you and I am so glad you won't be far away. You have a special place in my heart and a special place in the heart of our city.
