My #5 CD of 2013 - Kacey Musgraves "Same Trailer, Different Park"

I absolutely love this CD and I go through phases where I can't quit listening to it. I'm in that phase again. It's been in my car CD player for a couple weeks now and I listen non-stop when I'm in my car.

I don't know that this CD is for everyone. It has a very strong singer/songwriter feel to it which is what makes me love it even more. It's not overproduced and it's not over sung. (Sometimes I think they push female artists to have power notes in every song and I do not think that's necessary.) I just love the stripped down feel to this CD. It allows the songs to speak for themselves.

And that takes me to Kacey's amazing songwriting talents (She wrote "Mama's Broken Heart" for Miranda Lambert as well having a hand in writing every song on this CD. The melodies are frequently pretty simple but the lyrics just draw you in and sometimes make you smile. (Like on "My House",
"Any KOA is A-OK as long as I'm with you".) They're well written, CLEVER, songs.

I think this CD is a refreshing change from all the dirt road, drinking on a tailgate watching women dance in Daisy Dukes. Probably not a CD most men will relate to...but sometimes it's nice to have something just for us girls.
