Wichita Veterans Day Parade Is This Saturday

  • Print

The theme for this year’s Veteran's Day parade in Wichita is "Welcome Home" to the troops who have served in Southwest Asia in the fight against terrorism. As our deployments to this area of operations approaches their final drawdown we want to honor the heroic men and women who have served there.

The parade will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 5 in downtown Wichita.

The parade route begins at Main & Murdock and goes south on Main to Douglas. The parade will end on Douglas at Kennedy Plaza on the north side of Century II.

Following the parade there will be a celebration at Kennedy Plaza and on Douglas Avenue between Water and Waco. You will have the chance to meet the parade participants; view vehicles and other displays; and listen to patriotic music.

The parade is open to all Active Duty, National Guard and Reserve military, plus any organization that wants to show their support for the military. There are thousands of veterans in and around Wichita who deserve this recognition.

Let’s show our veterans just how much we appreciate their sacrifices and contributions in keeping our nation great.

Anyone interested in more information should contact Lt. Col Michael George (Ret) at Wichita East High School between the hours of 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at 973-7284
