I play thousands of songs throughout the year. It shouldn't be so hard to narrow it down to my Top 5 favorites with so much to choose from. But, this was a tough assignment. I gave it a lot of thought and here are my picks for the Top 5 country songs for 2011:
#5. Baggage Claim - Miranda Lambert.
I loved this song the first instant I heard it. And, I can't help turning up the radio super loud when it comes on. I just love Miranda's music so much.
#4. This Is Country Music - Brad Paisley
This song just sums up what country music means to it's fans. We love the honesty of the messages in our songs and Brad captured that sentiment perfectly.
#3. Barefoot Blue Jean Night - Jake Owen
I will always think of the sweltering summer heat when I hear this song.
#2. Take The Back Road - Rodney Adkins
Just simply one of the best songs of the year because it just is. Love to sing along to it. And, it truly made me want to "put a little gravel in my travel." It's a classic country song and I believe that it will live on country radio for a long time. Our kid's kids will be singing to this one I predict.
#1. Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not - Thompson Square
This was the most played song of 2011 on country radio. But that isn't why it's my top song of the year. This duo had the best line in a song this year, in my opinion. "Are you gonna kiss me or not? Are we gonna do this or what?" A classic country rhyme! Love it!
