Capt. Timothy McBride and 1st Lt. Victoria McBride, 340 Expeditionary Air Refueling Wing pilots, stand in front of a KC-135 Stratotanker on the flightline in Afghanistan on Dec. 28, 2011 after a very memorable Christmas Day refueling. Both are deployed from McConnell Air Force Base.
Here is a cool story about how they spent their Christmas this year.
Both Timothy and Victoria were piloting different tankers on Christmas Day. No chance they would spend the day together. Until Timothy received orders to off load his remaining fuel onto another tanker as a fuel consolidation process....just so happened his wife was piloting the other aircraft. So they did spend Christmas Day together...or at least part of it.....in the skies over Afghanistan....
It's the first time the couple had performed the fuel consolidation process together.
For the rest of their lives they will be able to tell the story of the Christmas night they spent together in the skies over Afghanistan, as only a service member can.
Timothy said, "It's truly the Air Force's version of the Christmas Story that I was able to work together with my wife to accomplish the mission."
