Kellie Michaels Day To Day

It's Speed Week!!!

I was Carl Edwards' biggest fan last year.  So, I am thrilled that Carl Edwards will begin his quest for the 2012 Sprint Cup championship from the best of all possible places—the pole position for next Sunday’s Daytona 500.

Carl, you might remember, tied with Tony Stewart for the 2011 Sprint Cup Championship. But lost the final battle because he won fewer races than Tony.   Doh!

Carl's teammate Greg Biffle will start on the outside of the front row, giving the Roush organization a sweep of the top two positions. Those are the only two spots locked in for the 500 so far.  The rest of the field will be lined up after Thursday’s Gatorade Duels, a pair of 150-mile qualifying races.

When I am not cheering for Carl, I am cheering for Dale, Jr.  He had the fastest Chevrolet.

Defending Daytona 500 champion Trevor Bayne, is guaranteed a position in the 500.  Not from owner's points, but because he posted the ninth-fastest lap Sunday.

So is Kansas' favorite racing son, Clint Bowyer, in his new #15 car.
