Visitors Accused Of Vandalizing NY 9/11 Memorial

  • Print

Some of the families members of 9/11 victims are complaining that visitors to the ground zero New York September 11th Memorial have no manners and are both disrespecting and vandalizing the memorial.

In one case, the September 11 Memorial & Museum was trashed by a group of students from an East New York junior high school who threw pieces of trash in the reflecting pool. The students were kicked off the site. One of the kids, an 8th grader, told the NY Daily News, "They kicked us out because of littering in the water. Kids were throwing baseballs in the pond thing." Also thrown into the reflecting pools were plastic soda bottles and various other items reported to police by witnesses. The 8th grader apparently didn't think what they did was wrong, "No one was disrespecting. It wasn’t nothing like that. No one was being serious. Everyone was kind of bored and it was just something to do."

The video below demonstrates what the band of family members say is at an all-time high.
