Veterans Group Needs Our Help In Tragic Situation

  • Print

We are being asked to do something for a family struck by the most tragic of situations  On September 4th a stray bullet hit a sleeping child and killed her.  The family of Kimbra Moore laid that child to rest and didn't tell anyone that they couldn't pay the funeral costs.  It was a principal at the girl's school who found out.  And, contacted VFW Post 3115 Riders asking if they could help. They have turned to us.  As the KFDI family, we think this is important.

I received the email below from SSgt Aaron Rausch.  I want to share it and ask for you to join me in helping this effort.  I have highlighted the really IMPORTANT POINTS:

My name is Aaron Rausch.  I am a Staff Sergeant in the Kansas Air National Guard, member of VFW Post 3115 and a VFW Rider's Group.I know this is short notice, but we need your help.

Tuesday evening, September 4th, there was a tragedy in the city of
Wichita.  A random shooting occurred on South Broadway, and a stray bullet
went through the wall of a nearby home, hitting a sleeping 8 year old little
girl.  Kimbra Moore
was pronounced dead at the scene.  We were informed that
the single mother of 3, Cheris (pronounced Char-is) was working in the mall and was recently laid off.  There is a bill for $4,500.00+ in funeral expenses that is still outstanding.  We, as an organization, need to help. The mother did not contact us, it was the Principal of the young girl's school.  She challenged us with doing what we do best; help those in need.
I am asking for your help as well. We as a Rider's group and Veteran's Organization will be staged at Freddy's Frozen Custard at East 13th and Greenwich Rd (11525 E 13th St) on October 6th from 2:30p.m. -  5:30 p.m.  We will be accepting donations for this cause. We will have our motorcycles and flags and if you could assist us by spreading the word that would be a huge help!  All proceeds will go to this family who is hurting and in need. There is a memorial set up with Emprise Bank, but we will be
accepting donations of any kind. Any person wanting to donate can drop their
donation off at the Freddy's Frozen Custard, any Emprise Bank or VFW Post
3115 located at the intersection of Douglass and Anna

Again, I cannot stress how important this is and how we, as a community, need to step up and answer this challenge.
