This Saturday is the 2nd "Run2Believe" 5K Run/Walk and Pancake Breakfast at Maize High School.
It will be a day to remember two young people who are so very missed by their parents, their families and their friends.
Kylie Jobe and Kyle Thornburg were high school sweethearts, and both athletes as well, at Maize High School. Both had graduated and were on spring break from college in 2011 when their car was struck head-on by a drunk driver on I-70. Kyle and Kylie were returning home from a vacation in Colorado. They were both killed, and so was the drunk driver.
It is a tragedy that broke the hearts of this community. But, Kylie and Kyle's parents have found a way to turn their unimaginable heartbreak into an event that celebrates their children's lives, while also reminding us of how dangerous drinking and driving can be.
On the 2-year anniversary of the accident this Saturday (3/23/13), we will gather for the "Run2Believe" 5K Walk/Run. Registration starts at 7:30, along with the free pancake breakfast served by the Maize Lions Club. There is an entry fee, and the money goes to scholarship funds and post prom activities.
I hope you join Brian and I at the event. Here is a link to all of the details.
