KS Honor Flight #12 this week
The 12th Kansas Honor Flight will take 21 Kansas World War II Veterans to Washington, DC this week. The flight departs Wednesday, 4/30/14 from Wichita Mid-Continent Airport on Southwest Airlines Flight #678 at 8:00 am.
You can volunteer to assist our Kansas World War II veterans through TSA and up to the Southwest Airline gate. To volunteer, show up at the Best Western Airport Inn, 6815 W. Kellogg Dr. at 5:15 am for free shuttle buses. Remember you will be going through the TSA metal detector so leave your chain saw and jungle knife behind. And, you will need a photo ID to get a TSA gate pass.
Once you have your gate pass, report to the KANSAS HONOR FLIGHT Team Leader or American Legion Team Leader for veteran assignment or other help.
Active duty military, please wear the uniform of the day. You in uniform, is always an encouragement to our World War II veterans. Same thing goes for the American Legion and VFW riders. The Heroes Welcome Home will take place Friday morning 10:00am, May 2, 2004. Those volunteering to to help get Veterans deplaned, catch a free shuttle starting at 9:15am. You will need a photo ID to get a TSA gate pass.
Those who want to line the corridor in the airport to give the Veterans a warm welcome home are asked to catch a free shuttle starting at 9:55 am. Bring your WELCOME HOME POSTERS and AMERICAN FLAG!
