VIDEO: World's Tallest Slide in KC. Are you Verrückt enough to ride this thing!

  • Print

Verrückt means “insane” in German.  Yep, that would be an appropriate name for the new water slide that will soon open at the Schlitterbahn water park in Kansas City.

The slide is 168 feet and 7 inches tall. Riders will plummet at 60 to 70 mph in a four-person raft. It's the World's Tallest Water Slide!   Who wants to go down this thing first?
I found a YouTube video of computer generated people taking the slide.  Makes me queasy watching it. (Watch below.  Mobile users click HERE.)
And, of course, I could only go down it once even if I did get up the nerve.  Just look at those stairs.  Why didn't they put in an elevator?
The folks at Schlitterbahn are delaying the opening to allow for more testing.  Good idea.  I would be afraid of sliding over the skimpy sides, personally. Verrückt should open June 5 instead of May 23, when the rest of the water park opens.
