Two-thousand volunteers are needed to be a part of setting a Guinness World Record by helping to package 350,000 meals in one hour for schools in Haiti during the "Serving the Hungry at Home and in Haiti - Guinness World Record Event" Saturday February 16th at the Kansas Pavillions. This event is co-sponsored by Numana Inc, Volunteer Kansas and The Wichita Downtown Rotary Club.

We got an email from a guy who found himself in an awkward situation at dinner at his girlfriend's house. Her dad asked him to say the Blessing before the meal. Well, this guy didn't know a proper prayer. He said as a kid he sometimes said, "Good Bread, Good Meat, Thank God, Let's Eat." But that wouldn't work in this case. So, he started naming each food and thanking God for it. He realized he was going WAY too long and wasn't doing a good job. He called it "the most uncomfortable event" of his life. I know that feeling and was in that position a time or two. Saying the Blessing is a lot of pressure if you aren't used to doing it. It makes me think of the scene in Christmas Vacation when Aunt Bethany was asked to say the Blessing and said The Pledge Of Allegiance instead. That is NOT acceptable in most situations. So, here is a simple dinner prayer that you can memorize and use in every situation.

I get into arguments with my husband over how long things in the fridge are still good after they have been opened. Well, sometimes, we argue over obviously "spoiled" food like the 5-week old cheese ball he is still eating on. And, the bag of lettuce that has some pretty brown speciments inside that he will pick through and still eat. Not me! I am a 72-hour girl. Pretty much I don't eat it if it's been in there for 3 days or longer. Except those things that you pretty much assume you can keep a long time and still use safely. Like ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce. That kind of stuff.
