Rascal Flatts' bassist Jay DeMarcus got his early Christmas present. He became a first-time father on Friday, December 17, when daughter Madeline Leigh made her way into the world. The baby is actually a few weeks early -- she was not due to arrive until January 8. Jay took to his Twitter page on Saturday to confirm the rumors. "It's true! Madeline Leigh DeMarcus was born yesterday at 4:49pm. She weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces. Ali and I are so excited!!!"
Garth Brooks says wife Trisha Yearwood has given him permission to go back out on the road. Garth says he asked Trisha if she would go along with his plan and she gave her “blessing.” That’s the good news. Now, the asterisk on the story. "The tour won't happen for a few years," Garth said. The flood relief concerts in Nashville continue through Tuesday night of this week.

Christmas also came early for Montgomery Gentry's Eddie Montgomery, who is resting at home following a successful surgery earlier this week to treat prostate cancer. According to his publicist, Eddie's doctors say that no further treatment should be needed. Congrats, Eddie! Eddie announced before the surgery that he would return to the stage in 2011. He wrote in a news release, "I will be back in January ready to rock for all the fans! Please keep my family and I in your prayers."
Rascal Flatts will join several country stars who will star in feature roles in the upcoming HBO Civil War series called 'To Appomattox.' Rascal Flatts will also produce the soundtrack for the eight-hour event, which will include original songs and some fresh interpretations of traditional songs from the Civil War era, like Yankee Doodle Dandy.
Also playing roles of real Americans who were involved on both sides of the Civil War will be Kix Brooks, Dwight Yoakam and Laura Bell Bundy. The series focuses on the final battle of the Civil War on the morning of April 9, 1865. The battle ended with the surrender of General Robert E. Lee to General Ulysses S. Grant.
John Rich made a surprise appearance on 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' Thursday night, all decked out in a Santa suit and gold cowboy boots. The country mogul joined his comedian buddy on a hilarious rendition of 'Drunk on Christmas.' Watch the video below:
