Toby Keith is going to do something this month that he hasn’t done in nearly 9 years. Toby is going to play the Grand Ol Opry on January 29th. Toby has only played the Opry once before in 2002. That was his first and last time on the famous stage at Ryman Auditorium. He will be joined for the January 29th performance by labelmate and good friend Trace Adkins, who was also on the bill for Toby's first Opry show. Toby says that was just ironic and not planned.
Kellie Pickler had big plans for her wedding to songwriter Kyle Jacobs. The couple were in the thick of putting together a glamorous Nashville event when suddenly they realized bigger wasn't better – and that they were getting lost in the process. "When two people get married, it's not about the glamour," Pickler, 24, tells PEOPLE. "It's about the bride and groom and God." So, bride and groom decided to elope to a heavenly spot in Antigua, where they married as the sun set over the Caribbean Sea. "We didn't have anything but us and God and our minister," Pickler says of the ceremony, "and I can't think of a word that can quite describe how perfect it was."
Reba McEntire will have some company when she hosts the ACM Awards April 3rd. Blake Shelton will join her as co-host of the event. Reba McEntire has been the solo host of the show for 12 years but the idea to add a co-host came up when producers noticed the chemistry between the two performers when they announced the nominees for the ACM Awards last year on CBS..
"When they did that, you saw a chemistry," ACM executive director Bob Romeo told USA Today. "They played off each other naturally. They seemed warm and spontaneously funny."
Us Weekly magazine is featuring a story this week on the break up of Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal. The article says that Taylor was blindsides by Jake’s sudden change of heart and that the break up happened via a phone call. One observer at the People’s Choice Awards said Taylor did not eat anything, seemed very sad and “She was not her usual bubbly, overanimated self.”
Also in this issue of US Weekly, a look inside the new Ottawa home of Carrie Underwood and Mike Fischer. The magazine says the couple made compromises in the layout of the house. Carrie, a vegetarian, agreed to let Mike have a hunting room for his deer heads and she got a shoe room in exchange.
Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood got all dressed up to host the 2010 CMA Awards last November. And now, fans can see some of those clothes in a spotlight exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum starting January 19th. The exhibit will feature an ensemble worn by Brad, including a John Richmond jacket with gold-beaded lapels. Carrie’s rhinestone embellished ballerina dress designed by Georges Chakra will also be on display. The exhibit will be on display through June 30th.
