This week marks the ninth anniversary of Waylon Jennings' passing, and what better way to pay tribute to his legacy than with the release of 'The Music Inside: A Collaboration Dedicated to Waylon Jennings, Vol. 1'. Waylon's widow Jessi Colter and son Shooter Jennings are joined by an all-star group on the recording, which includes Kris Kristofferson, Trace Adkins and Alabama, whose contribution is their first new music in a decade.Listen to the full album here.
We have a Martina McBride album update. She is in Atlanta recording her first album for Big Machine's Republic label and says she is going a different sound with this album, "For the first time in awhile, I have a really strong sense with what I want to do with this record. I've found some really great songs. I want the record to be a little more organic, a little more stripped down. It's time for a different sound." Martina is tweeting throughout the process, keeping fans up to date on the progress. So far we have only heard snippets of songs as they are being mixed and no full vocals yet. We will keep you posted. You can follow Martina on Twitter @MartinaMcBride
Country's newest princess, Miranda Lambert, is a little nervous about singing on this year's Grammy Awards telecast this Sunday night. While she may be suffering from a few nerves, it's offset by the fact that not many country acts are asked to perform on the Grammy's and she is taking the task seriously, "I feel so proud to be there because I am representing country, and I just want to do it justice. I want people to know that we're cool! [laughs]" Miranda is nominated for Female Country Vocal Performance for 'The House That Built Me,' Country Collaboration with Vocals for 'Bad Angel' with Dierks Bentley and Jamey Johnson and Country Album for 'Revolution.' Her No. 1 hit, 'The House That Built Me,' written by Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin, may also take home two more awards for Best Country Song and the all-genre Song of the Year.
Jason Aldean's duet with Kelly Clarkson, 'Don't You Wanna Stay,' is such a smash hit, that he wanted to take his duet partner on the road with him this year. Not possible, because the two couldn't coordinate all of the dates. Jason is diong the next best thing. Kelly Clarkson will be seen on a big screen behind Jason singing her part of the duet on tape when he performs the song live in concert. "We looked for a way to make her a part of the show because she can't be here every night to sing with me," Jason tells The Boot. "It's cool; it kinda looks like she's live from satellite. And none of my guys look or sing like that!"
Dierks Bentley has also been picked by FOX SPORTS to record a special version of his song “Sideways” for the theme song for the network’s 2011 NASCAR coverage. The song will be used throughout the entire season, and BENTLEY will debut the song live from the DAYTONA 500 on FEBRUARY 20th.
