Brad Paisley is a singer, songwriter, author, cartoon artist and now oil painter. The CMA Entertainer Of The Year painted a picture that sold for $5,500 at a fundraiser for the Nashville Film Festival! Brad points out that he has had no formal training, “unless you count watching [PBS's] Bob Ross," he says. Maybe that’s why he painted a lonely little fir tree at sunset. Brad says he did the background of the oil painting at home, and completed it during the cocktail hour at the fundraiser (see photo below.)

In the meantime, Brad has released the cover art and release date for his new album, This Is Country Music. The album will miss it’s originally planned April 19the release date by more than a month and arrive in stores May 24. The cover art features a downward looking Brad in his signature white hat. Craig Morgan doesn’t consider himself a hero. Of course we expected he would feel that way after running into a burning house on Sunday afternoon and saving two little kids. Craig says he was at a gas station across from the house when his son pointed out there was smoke coming from the house. He waved it off as someone burning trash, but his wife said she saw flames. That’s when Craig flew into action and ran over. A woman in the yard yelled that her kids were in the house and Craig didn’t hesitate to run inside. He said the home was full of smoke and one of the boys ran away from him, but he was able to scoop both kids up and get them safely outside.
It’s worth noting that the Rhinestone Cowboy is hanging up his banjo and calling it quits. Glen Campbell, one of the most successful country crossover acts in the past 40 years, reportedly will bid fans farewell this summer with a final tour and one last studio album, called 'Ghost on the Canvas. Let’s hope Glen comes through town to sing “Wichita Lineman” one last time for us.
More celebrating for Lady Antebellum today. They have learned that the single “American Honey” has reached one million digital downloads. Other country celebs being honored this week for platinum downloads status are Carrie Underwood for ''Undo It,' Taylor Swift for 'Mine' and Miranda Lambert's 'The House That Built Me.' In addition, Kenny Chesney's song, 'Somewhere With You' and Jason Aldean's 'My Kinda Party' received gold certification for their digital downloads.
