Nashville Stew 4-14

Today''s Stewcast includes why Carrie Underwood says she leads a "boring life";  Taylor Swift buys her parents a nice pad; and what new dad Jay DeMarcus bought for his new baby daughter Madeline Leigh?  Those stories and more in the Nashville Stew report for Thursday, April 14th.

Carrie Underwood may be a big celebrity but she says her life is really pretty boring.  In an interview with US Weekly Carrie says, "When I’m on stage, I feel like a performer, and I know people are looking at me and taking pictures and all that stuff, and they’re singing along,” she said, “That part is wonderful, but I do live in Nashville. I live the most boring life away from what you see me on camera doing. “I never go out to eat. I never do anything. I think that’s why I consider myself not a celebrity. I’m a normal person who sings on stage.“

First time dad Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts says he and wife, Allison, were a little paranoid bringing their new baby daughter home.  They hired a nurse to help them with Madeline Leigh, now three months old.  In the latest issue of People Magazine, Jay says they are spoiling the little girl revealing that she sleeps in a white and gold crib that sits under two crystal chandeliers and next to her own pink piano.

Taylor Swift recently bought her mom and dad, Andrea and Scott Swift, a $1.4 million home in Nashville. The three-bedroom, 5,000-square-foot estate — built in the 1920s — was recently renovated and boasts a blue stone terrace and a massive outdoor fireplace. "It’s an incredible house," says a source close to the Grammy winner. "Taylor’s been visiting her parents there and she’s so excited for them." The Swifts are not the only ones in need of a change-of address form. "Taylor just bought a beautiful home for herself in L.A.," adds another source. "She is in L.A. so much — and she was paying a fortune in hotel charges!"

Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum lead the country nominees at the Billboard Music Awards. The two country acts go head to head with seven nominations each.  In addition, Jason Aldean, Sugarland and the Zac Brown Band received three nominations each in the country categories. The Billboard awards are based on a combination of radio airplay, sales, tour success and social media exposure. The trophies will be presented May 22 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and broadcast on ABC.

Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson will be on American Idol on FOX tonight (April 14) to perform "Don't You Wanna Stay." The single has been certified platinum for 1 million digital downloads. In addition, Jason will perform his new single, "Dirt Road Anthem," on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson on CBS later tonight.
