Country artist MICHAEL MARTIN MURPHEY is helping to save a Kansas landmark at a special benefit next THURSDAY, MAY 5th.
Michael will be at the Prairie Rose Chuckwagon to raise funds to restore the historic home where the KANSAS State Song, “Home on the Range” was written. Written in 1871 by Dr. BREWSTER HIGLEY, “Home on the Range,” may be the best-known AMERICAN cowboy song. HIGLEY’s cabin, known as the Home on the Range, is still standing in SMITH COUNTY but is badly in need of restoration.
MURPHEY, who recorded “Home On The Range,” on the album “Cowboy Songs,” will stage the benefit at the PRAIRIE ROSE CHUCKWAGON SUPPER, in BENTON, KANSAS, with all proceeds going to the restoration project.
Michael Martin Murphey will also be in town for the annual Prairie Rose Western Days on Friday thru Sunday, May 6-8th. Details on tickets and events here.
