Luke Bryan has the #1 album on the country charts. Tailgates & tanlines debuts at the top of Billboard’s Country Album chart and is #2 on the Billboard Top 200 chart this week. Only Brad Paisley's This Is Country Music sold more copies in it's debut week than Luke's new cd. That's BIG!! Luke likes the title "Tailgates and Tanlines" because it sounds fun, "“You kind of associate a fun time with everything around those two words and that phrase. They’re words and phrases that are used throughout the album, and it just sounds like a good movie to me. If you’re in the theater and see a preview and you see a cool title, I think that’s what that title does.”
After winning Celebrity Apprentice John Rich told Donald Trump he should contact one of his friends, Dierks Bentley, about being a contestant on the show. Donald did and Dierks said thanks but no thanks. Dierks confirmed to KFDI's Carol Hughes that he was asked and that he did think about it for a while before he declined. In the end, Dierks says that while he was flattered to be asked, being the Celebrity Apprentice is not who he is. "At the end of the day, I love playing music — it’s what excites me creatively. Writing songs, making records and touring is everything to me. That’s the dream, and the dream takes up a lot of time. With two kids and a wife, my plate’s pretty full.”
This might get awkward for other country artists, but Lady Antebellum will have an ampitheatre named after them. It won't be long before concerts will be held at the new Lady Antebellem Ampitheatre featuring the Josh Kelley stage in Evans, Georgia near Augusta. Lady A's two guy members, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, grew up in Evans. And, of course, Charles' brother and fellow artist Josh Kelley grew up there too. The city of Evans is dedicating the concert venue on October 28th. One guess who will be the first to play a concert in the Lady Antebellem Ampitheatre?
It was the fall seen all over the country. Shania Twain famously took a tumble while making her grand entrance at the CMT Music Awards in June, where she was on hand to present the award for Male Video of the Year. But now, the Canadian-born singer is using her minor misfortune to raise funds for her charity, Shania Kids Can, by auctioning off the shoes she was wearing on that fateful night via eBay. Shania called the fall "one of life's most embarrassing moments," and promised to auction off the shoes after falling, adding that she "never wanted to see those shoes again."
Martina McBride is going to give a boost to hankie sales. She has unveiled a new video set to the second single from her upcoming album, Eleven. The video for the song “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” features dozens of cancer survivors and supporters, “I knew it was a song I wanted to record because of the strong message of hope that it sends,” said Martina. “I’ve heard so many stories about how music can change lives from songs I have recorded like ‘A Broken Wing,’ ‘Independence Day,’ and ‘Concrete Angel.’ I believe ‘I’m Gonna Love You Through It’ will offer hope and inspiration to so many people who are going through or have been through cancer.
