Before the hit songs, awards and thousands of screaming fans, country stars held day jobs just like those who love their music. In Day Jobs, an original series premiering on Sunday, October 2 at 8 PM/ET, several of today’s top stars step away from the stage lights and put in a full day’s work the way they did before they made it big. Trace Adkins is one of the stars who returned to his former job. He was a roughneck on an offshore oil rig. You can catch a sneak peek of Day jobs on GAC TV Wednesday, September 14th.
Sugarland will be named as a defendant in a lawsuit resulting from the stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair in August. The family of one of the victims has notified 15 potential defendants that they will be filing a lawsuit asking for damages in the death 22-year old Jennifer Haskell.
We have lots of new country music to buy this week. Besides the highly anticipated album from Lady Antebellum, "Own The Night", there's Steve Holy's third studio album, “Love Don’t Run”, and Brantley Gilbert goes “Country Wide” with his debut album in stores as of Tuesday.
Carrie Underwood recently blogged on her website that she is ready to hit the road. Actually she wrote that she plans to “tour my face off”next year. Carrie also is reporting that she is about half way finished with her next album. She has the songs recorded and is mixing it all together now. What to expect from the Carrie's third studio album? Carrie says she needed to take a step back and make sure she was focusing on her music and not the money or celebrity she has enjoyed since winning American Idol.
The new Guinness Book of World Records hits stores this Thursday and one country star will have a couple of entries. Taylor Swift had the fastest selling digital album by a female in the US for Speak Now, AND she had the most simultaneous US Hot 100 Hits (Billboard) by a female artist with 11 singles in the week ending November 13, 2010. Taylor has held the records for being the first US female to write or co-write every track on a million-selling debut album and for having the most top 20 songs in a year by a Solo Artist.
Country artist Whitney Duncan will be one of the contestants on the new season of Survivor. The first episode of "Survivor: South Pacific" airs on CBS Wednesday, Sept. 14th. Whitney talking about Survivor is below:
