The male half of country duo Steel Magnolia has entered rehab for treatment of alcohol and substance abuse. Joshua Scott Jones released a statement saying that "God has been on my heart to announce and make public that I have entered a rehabilitation and treatment facility. Meghan Linsey, Joshua's singing partner and fiance, began playing Steel Magnolia's scheduled tour dates alone this past Sunday. The couple isn't saying how long Joshua will be in treatment. The duo is scheduled to join Reba McEntire's All The Women I Am Tour this fall.

 

Lady Antebellum holds on to the #1 spot on Billboard's Country Albums chart for a second week with Own the Night.  They sold another 125,000 copies in the second week of release. The album slipped to #2 on the all genre chart, the Billboard 200.  But the new #1 has country ties. It’s Tony Bennett's Duets II, which features his duets with Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill and Willie Nelson. At age 85, Tony is the oldest living artist to reach #1 on the Billboard 200.

Fans can catch Lady Antebellum as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live this Saturday (10/1). 


George Strait is The Fireman so it’s only right that he join the artist lineup for the upcoming relief concert to help victims of the Texas wildfires. George joins Willie Nelson and a reunion of The Dixie Chicks for the Monday, October 17th show in Austin.  

 

 

 First an invitation to join the Grand Old Opry.  Now Rascal Flatts has been chosen to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  The band was selected from hundreds of nominations. The boys didn’t break down and cry like they did when they got the Opry invite this week.  But they are thrilled, “I am at such a loss for words that I can’t even describe how I feel,” says lead singer Gary LeVox. “What a great honor and symbol of accomplishment.” Joe Don Rooney said, “This is the kind of stuff you dream of growing up as a kid. Having our name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has to be one of the coolest things that’s ever happened to Rascal Flatts. I’m honored and completely humbled.”

 Martina McBride has become country music’s ambassador for Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. She will perform the National Anthem at first of many “Pink” NFL games between the Baltimore Ravens and the New York Jets this Sunday night. Watch it on NBC at 7:30pm.   The game ball will have pink ribbon decals, pink equipment worn by the players, pink coins used for the coin toss, and pink goal post padding in the end.  

 

 

 

Trace Adkins plays a transporter of souls in a a new movie role. Trace signed to play the role in the supernatural thriller "The Healer," filming now in North Carolina. The Healer" tells the story of teenage twins Nick and Michelle who get lost in a forest while on a camping trip with their father. Adkins plays a truck driver who'se big rig is really a transporter of souls destined for the dark side.
