Keith Urban will undergo throat surgery at the end of November to remove a polyp on his vocal chords. The outpatient procedure requires the postponement of Jan. 18's All For The Hall benefit concert. Keith says he will honor all one-song performance commitments leading up to the procedure including his appearance at the CMA Awards next week. All other appearances will be rescheduled in 2012.
Blake Shelton will perform his remake of the song "Footloose" at the CMA Awards. And, Blake will be joined by the original singer, Kenny Loggins, when he does. Blake is nominated for five CMA Awards this year -- entertainer of the year, male vocalist, album (All About Tonight), single and video (both for "Honey Bee"). The CMA Awards will air live from Nashville on Nov. 9 on ABC.
Divorce is not an option for Miranda Lambert. Miranda has been out promoting her new album, Four The Record, and she was asked what she thought of the Kim Kardashian news that she is divorcing 72 days after her lavish wedding to Kris Humphries. Miranda has a strong opinion. "I just kind of feel sorry for her in a way," Lambert said. "In another way, I don't. Because you get what asked for. Living that kind of a lifestyle, you know that you're gonna have backlash." When there is so much going on in the world, Miranda thinks we need to concentrate on more important news. "I wish that people would talk about news that mattered," she told CMT.Com.
Toby Keith has scored his ninth No. 1 country album with his latest, 'Clancy's Tavern.' The album knocks Scotty McCreery's 'Clear as Day' from the top spot after two consecutive weeks. Toby is also at the top of the Country Digital Tracks with 61,000 downloads of his new song 'Red Solo Cup.' The song will be featured on the November 15th episode of the hit tv show, Glee. Toby isn't sure how the song will be written into the story line about a highschool chorus, "That's a square peg in a round hole there."
Ronnie Dunn is grooving on the changing weather. He is a big fan of this time of year, "I was out a couple of days ago. I like to go out and just sit with my camera, and I planted, like, corn and things like that where the animals would come down from the woods. The deer and birds and all the stuff like that. I was fishin’ the other day, and I looked up — I thought there was a buzzard or somethin’ flyin’ over me, and it was a bald eagle. This is my favorite time of the year when the colors change and the weather starts turning a little cooler.”
Reba McEntire will serve as the host for the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards Ceremony on December 2 at Wynn Las Vegas. The ceremony honors the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion and other drivers who finished in the Top Ten of the final series standings. I'll feel right at home," she says, "My family and I have gotten to meet so many nice people in the racing industry this year with my youngest son, Shelby, being one of the competitors. We appreciate so much the super hospitality." The awards will air on the Speed channel.
Craig Morgan not only is celebrating the release of his new EP, This Ole Boy, this week; he is gearing up to sing the National Anthem in Nashville this Sunday as the Tennessee Titans take on the Cincinnati Bengals. The game begins at 4:05, ET on CBS.
Blake Shelton, John Rich and Craig Morgan will have a big say in how the ACM Awards are produced in 2012. The three have joined ACM board of directors. Kimberly Perry of the Band Perry is also serving as a director at large on the board. These members help direct the day-to-day operation of the Academy of Country Music and also guide them in putting on the annual ACM Awards and other special events.
