Brad Paisley says he still plans to jam with his good buddy , Keith Urban. But there will be no duet between the two. Keith is under doctor’s orders not to speak for 3 weeks following his vocal chord surgery. Brad admits he is “very capable of” holding up both ends of the conversation. He says, Keith can “just nod and grunt and do whatever he’s allowed to do.”
It was a family Christmas celebration last night during the CMA Country Christmas special that aired on ABC. Superstars like Faith Hill shared their favorite Christmas traditions. Faith says the family tradition is to read The Night Before Christmas, then bake, and make reindeer food.
Martina McBride shared a family recipe. Martina said she and her daughters make an odd salad for Christmas. “We have a weird salad we make,” McBride said, listing the ingredients as a jar of pimento cheese, a can of pineapple, half a bag of marshmallows, and a carton of Cool Whip, mixed together. “It’s so good!”
And Keith Urban shared details of the best Christmas gift he ever received. “Two Christmases ago, my lovely wife [Nicole Kidman] surprised the heck out of me with Waylon Jennings’ Telecaster that was being auctioned off at the beginning of December. Hands down – it’s the best gift I’ve ever had.”
Toby Keith will make his broadcast performance debut of “Red Solo Cup” at the American Country Awards, airing live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Monday, Dec. 5 (7:00 PM) on FOX. The song also will be featured on the next all-new episode of Glee airing Tuesday, Dec. also on FOX.
Mindy McCready is back in the news. Mindy and her 5 year old son, Xander, were reported missing after she failed to return the boy to her mother after a parental visit. No Amber Alert has been issued; this is not a missing child case. Mindy was in court just a month ago asking for custody of her son to returned to her. Her mother has guardianship of the little boy. As is if this couldn’t become any more of a storyline from a soap opera, People.com is now reporting that Mindy is pregnant with twins.
'American Idol' winner Scotty McCreery continues to ride a big wave of success, as his debut album, 'Clear as Day,' remains at the top of the country albums chart this week, despite continued threats from fellow artists. Scotty held off Taylor Swift's brand-new 'Speak Now World Tour Live' CD/DVD set, Grammy-nominated the Band Perry's eponymous debut and multi-Grammy winners' Lady Antebellum with their latest, 'Own the Night,' to take the No. 1 spot once again this week.
When it comes to Hank Williams Jr., Jason Aldean says the only thing you can say is that he is unpredictable. Hank, Jr. abruptly left the CMT 'Artists of the Year' stage in the middle of his duet with Jason on "Tattoos On This Town." Jason tells HITFIX. "I'm still a huge fan. He's one of my idols, one of the guys that I grew up listening to. I'm a huge fan and, you know, it was a little weird, but it's Hank Jr.! What are you going to say?" Hank Jr explained that he didn't feel his performance was up-to-par for the show, which honored Jason, Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney and Lady Antebellum as 2011's 'Artists of the Year.'
