Big weekend coming for country music fans. First, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert will sing "America The Beautiful" before the kick off of the Super Bowl. Listen to the studio version of the duet here. After the game, Blake returns as a judge/coach on the second season of The Voice. The show will debut immediately after the Super Bowl broadcast on NBC.
On Saturday night, CMT will debut the new Crossroads pairing Carrie Underwood with Aerosmith legend and American Idol judge Steven Tyler. Each will sing the hits of the other. The show airs Saturday night at 10 pm CT and repeats at 2am and 9am Sunday morning.
Anticipation is high for the upcoming Carrie Underwood album. Carrie herself announced the release date is May 1st with the first single, Good Girl, coming out February 23rd. This will be the fourth studio album for the five-time Grammy winner.
Lady Antebellum as a group is picking the Giants to win the Super Bowl. Why? Because they have become friends with Eli Manning. In a new Webisode Wednesday video, the group also talks about how often they fight. Dave Haywood said jokingly it was "every day." Hillary reminded him that they always grow from their disagreements. As for Charles, he revealed what he likes to watch on tv. He loves "American Pickers" and anything on HGTV. Watch the video below:
ABC has ordered the pilot for "Malibu Country," starring Reba McEntire, for their new lineup. The show would follow Reba's character, a woman who leaves her cheating husband in Nashville and moves her kids to Malibu in search of a singing career. The Pilot will be taped in April according to Reba.
Taylor Swift won't be playing Eponine in the "Les Miserables" movie after all. She was supposedly offered the role last month. But now it's been announced the role is going to an unknown actor named Samantha Barks. She played the part in a 25th anniversary concert version in 2010. Producers are not saying why Taylor is out.
The soundtrack to the Navy SEALs movie "Act of Valor" will be full of country performances. Keith Urban, Sugarland, Lady Antebellum, Trace Adkins, Montgomery Gentry, Wynonna and Jake Owen all contribute songs. The soundtrack drops February 21st, and the movie opens three days later, on February 24th.
The Oklahoma State Supreme Court has upheld a decision awarding Toby Keith's family millions in the death of Keith's father, H.K. Covel. Toby's dad was killed in a 2001 car accident in Oklahoma when a car allegedly hit his truck from behind, sending him into the path of an oncoming bus. The lawsuit alleged the bus's brakes weren't working properly, causing the fatal accident. A jury agreed and awarded the family initially awarded them $2.8 million in damages.
