Maybe Blake Shelton had ulterior motives for releasing one of his team on The Voice Monday night. He has hired Gwen Sebastian, the girl he eliminated, to join his band. Gwen told GAC-TV, quote, "The best news is that I am now singing with Blake on his 'Well Lit & Amplified Tour!' After the battle round, I was completely surprised and honored to have Blake ask me to come sing backup for him." Gwen is also going to be part of the band when Blake performs at the ACMs on April 1st.
While a lot of artists from other genres of music are turning to Country music as a creative avenue, one country star is going ahead with his dream of doing another genre of music himself. Billy Currington says he is going to follow up on his dream of doing a complete album of soul songs. Billy had previously said he wanted to work with Babyface. There's no timeline for when Billy might release his soul album, but he does know he wants the songs to be original not covers. Says Billy, "I'm gonna make it happen."
The 47th Annual ACM Awards have announced some winners for the off camera portion of the show. The ACM Honors award winners include Kenny Chesney, who wins the Crystal Milestone award for selling more than 10 million tickets and popularizing country outside the format. The Career Achievement award goes to Vince Gill. Alan Jackson will receive the Jim Reeves International award. And the Songwriter Of The Year award goes to Dallas Davidson.
Blake Shelton and fellow The Voice coach Adam Levine appear together on the cover of the latest issue of People magazine (out Friday 3/23). In the article inside Blake addresses his "bromance" with Adam, "A few weeks ago, somebody asked me, 'What about you and Adam's bromance," Shelton says in the piece. "'Is there anything to it?' It's fun. It's just like we're sitting around the bar, making jabs at each other."
