Dick Clark died yesterday at the age of 82 after a massive heart attack while undergoing a procedure in a Los Angeles hospital.  All genres of music were influenced by Dick Clark.  His career of course included hosting 'American Bandstand,’ ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ and he was the executive producer of the Academy of Country Music Awards, The American Music Awards and The Golden Globe Awards.  Country artists react to his death. “Dick Clark. What is there to say… You’ve done it all, rest in peace,” Rascal Flatts‘ Jay DeMarcus said on Twitter.

It's a girl for Joe Nichols and wife Heather.  They welcomed their baby daughter Dylan River Nichols, Tuesday (April 17). The gorgeous newborn weighs in at 7 lbs, 5 oz, and measures 21 ¼ inches long. Mom and baby are both said to be happy and healthy. "Our prayers have been answered," says Heather, who suffered a miscarriage in 2008, followed by painful fertility issues. "We went through years of loss and heartbreak to get to this point and now our little baby girl is here. I want to thank everyone for their well wishes, thoughts and prayers and our doctors and nurses who have walked along side us in this process. I know that we are going to love this little girl, and I am so thankful that she is ours."

Any naysayers about Lionel Richie going country may be feeling a little foolish today. The music icon's country duets project, Tuskegee, has soared to the top of the all-genre Billboard 200 chart. It's also No. 1 for a second week on the country albums chart. Lionel is beating himself up a little over not doing this album sooner, "It started out that I was going to do one, maybe two duets. Then it became a whole album of duets. Then the floodgates opened and it was just, why didn't we think of this 40 years ago? It was perfect, absolutely perfect."

Carrie Underwood's new single, "Good Girl," has been certified gold for 500,000 digital downloads. The single was digitally released on Feb. 24 and reached gold status on April 4. "Good Girl" is the lead single from Underwood's upcoming album, Blown Away, due May 1. In related news, Underwood will perform music from throughout her career for Live on Letterman, a live webcast series from the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City on April 30 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Entertainment Weekly has named Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Jake Owen as three of the "30 Greatest Music Artists Right Now." Taylor Swift is Number 2 as the Everygirl Superstar. Carrie Underwood comes in 4th place as the Country Belle. Jake Owen is named Nashville Casanova at Number 19.
