The Grand Ole Opry added another star to the membership with the induction of Keith Urban. Nine-year Opry member Trace Adkins (with Josh Turner by his side) welcomed Keith to the club. "Thank you very much! Yee haw! That is awesome!" he exclaimed. He is the first non-North American born artist to be inducted. (Watch video of the induction below.) .

Taylor Swift is reportedly being considered to play the part of folksinging legend Joni Mitchell in a movie version of the book "Girls Like Us," by Shelia Weller. Variety reports that although Taylor does not have an official offer on the table, she has been linked to the role of the Canadian-born performer for several months as. While not officially "greenlit" yet, the film is tentatively scheduled to start production later this year.

 

Lady Antebellum lead the country finalists for the 2012 Billboard Music Awards with four nods followed by Blake Shelton and Jason Aldean with 3 nominations in the country categories. Taylor Swift is up against Bon Jovi, Take That, U2 and Roger Waters in the Top Touring categor. Scotty McCreery will face off against Bad Meets Evil, Big Sean, Foster the People and Wiz Khalifa for Top New Artist. The 2012 Billboard Music Awards will take place at Las Vegas' Sunday May 20 on ABC.

 

The Voice is back on tonight. Blake Shelton has been doing some explaining over the past week about his decision to let country singer RaeLynn go last week. "I actually came in to the battle thinking that if they both do really good, I'd probably go with RaeLynn just because she was a country artist," he explained after the April 17 show (quote via the Country Vibe). "I just don't think she did a very good performance and that wouldn't be fair to Erin." "The Voice" is heading towards the May 8 finale.

 

Could Blake Shelton be planning a duet with pop princess Christina Aguilera? Last Monday night after Christina performed with her team on The Voice, Blake tweeted, “That. Just. Happened!!!!! @TheRealXtina I’m speechless…” Christina responded, “Now we need to team up for a country duet Blake!! I”m down!! Let”s go! (sic)’.” Back in January Christina also hinted that there was a possibility her and Blake’s wife, Miranda Lambert, would be teaming up for a song. She said,

 

Toby Keith is headed back to entertain troops for his tenth USO Tour. The Oklahoma native can't reveal the exact itinerary of the upcoming trip for safety reasons, but does share a few details. "We do a week in Afghanistan and then I think we do a week in Kuwait, Bahrain and we've started hitting aircraft carriers and doing a big show for 5,000 a night on the aircraft carrier."
