"American Idol" champion Scotty McCreery was pitching for his Garner High School baseball team when he had a scary moment on the mound when a one-hopper back to the mound hit Scotty in the throat. Scotty retrieved the ball and threw out the batter. A spokeswoman for Universal Music Group in Nashville says Scotty wasn't injured. By the way, Scotty pitched 4 1/3 innings, struck out six and allowed seven hits and left the game with a 2-1 lead, but the other school rallied to take the win away from the singer.
Carrie Underwood leads 2012 CMT Music Awards nominees with five nods including Video of the Year for "Good Girl." Miranda Lambert follows with four – two for her work as a solo artist and two as a member of Pistol Annies. Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift and Thompson Square are tied with three each. Fan voting determines the winners at CMT.com through June 4.
Toby Keith launched his 10th USO tour over the weekend in Bahrain. Keith has been posting photos from the trip via Facebook and Twitter, and highlights so far include signing several red Solo cups for troops, as well as attending a re-enlistment ceremony.
