Eric Church has found himself in hot water with Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton. "It's become 'American Idol' gone mad," he told Rolling Stone magazine about today's reality competition show craze. Eric said in his comments that it didn't make sense that Blake could turn his chair around and someone gets a recording contract. Eric is quoted as saying, "That's crazy. I don't know what would make an artist do that. You're not an artist." Miranda Tweeted Monday, writing, "Thanks Eric Church for saying I'm not a real artist. Or @kelly_clarkson, @carrieunderwood & @KeithUrban. Blake also tweeted about the controversial interview, writing simply, "I wish I misunderstood this."
Carrie Underwood has announced that she will be coming to Wichita with her "The Blown Away" tour on Saturday, October 27th. Tickets will go on sale Friday, May 11th at 10am through Select A Seat. The concert will be at Intrust Bank Arena with Hunter Hayes as the special guest, opening for Carrie. It's important to note that Carrie sold out her first Arena show to go on sale, in London, in 90 minutes last week.
Carrie Underwood is the covergirl of the May issue of Glamour magazine. Inside is a photo spread and a candid interview. In the interview, Carrie tells Glamour that being rich and famous doesn't hurt the authenticity of her songs. "It would be very hard to write about my giant house, it's not relatable," she says. "We don't have a bowling alley in our basement. We don't have houses on the beach and one in New York and one in L.A. I drive a 3-year-old Ford Escape Hybrid. We don't care about stuff like that."
Rascal Flatts is having a very good year. They have officially earned their 14th #1 single at Country radio with “Banjo,” the lead single off CHANGED. After only being on the charts for 16 weeks, “Banjo” mightily ascended to the top of the Billboard, Mediabase/Country Aircheck and MusicRow charts for the week ending April 28. “Thanks to Country radio and our fans for loving this song,” said Rascal Flatts lead vocalist Gary LeVox. “You guys never cease to amaze us!”
Jay DeMarcus and his wife Allison are a few months away from welcoming their new baby boy into their home, and the Rascal Flatts bassist already knows what his son's name will be. "We really are thrilled to be having a boy, and we're gonna name him Dylan Jay DeMarcus," he reveals (quote via Taste of Country). "My wife, being the sweetheart that she is, decided that 'Jay' needed to officially be in the family, so we decided to call him Dylan Jay DeMarcus."
Lionel Richie has announced he will no longer be part of the new reality talent show, Duets, citing scheduling conflicts as the reason. Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles, Kelly Clarkson and Robin Thicke will now be joined by John Legend as one of the judges in Lionel's place. "Duets," which will air on ABC, allows each coach to look for new singers any way they choose, and then narrow down the contestants to two performers, whom they will mentor and perform with each week. The grand prize is a recording contract on Hollywood Records.
John Rich is returning to ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ this Sunday as an adviser on the show. John will appear with actress Marlee Matlin to help Donald Trump with some big decisions in the second half of the two-hour program. After the five remaining stars tackle another task and one more celebrity is fired, the final four will face Rich and Matlin in individual interviews to explain why they should be this season's winner. Rich and Matlin will then share their insights and advise Trump as he gets ready to fire two more stars. John was last season's ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ winner, while Marlee was the runner up.
