What Wichita Did For Hank, Jr AND Which Star Generates The Most Concert Trash

  • Print

Hank Williams Jr. is thanking ESPN for firing him, and thanking Wichita fans for helping make up the difference losing his ESPN gig made in his bank account. Hank may have lost the royalties for his Monday Night Football theme song but the controversy turned into a windfall in other ways.  Hank says, "It has snowballed."  Hank pointed to the giant jump in t-shirt sales at his concerts.  He mentioned Wichita when he said, quote, "Well, how about $200,000 in T-shirts in cities like Evansville, [Indiana] and Wichita, Kansas and Dayton, Ohio.  That tell you something?"  Hank thinks his words hit home for many Americans. He was fired, you may recall, for comparing a golf game played by House Speaker John Boehner and President Obama to Hitler hitting the links with (Israeli Prime Minister) NETANYAHU.

Kenny Chesney is doing something else bigger than anyone else in the music biz.  He is generating more trash at his concerts.  The groundskeepers at Pittsburgh's Heinz Field report that Kenny and Tim McGraw generated 50,000 pounds of garbage at their June 30th concert.  “Chesney is the worst (for trash),” said spokesperson Leroy Stotler, “This was as bad, if not worse, than other years.”

Garth Brooks may finally be ready to get the tour bus out of moth balls. It's been 12 years since the country icon announced he wouldn't tour again until his daughters were out of high school. His youngest is a junior. Garth now says "If God lets us do it and everything goes well, I would love to tour again."   There's a possibility he'd bring his wife, Trisha Yearwood, along for the ride as well. "I'd love to tour again with Miss Yearwood and have no guilt," he admitted. "

Eli Young Band's #1 single, “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” is inspiring people to pursue their dreams. Mike Eli says they’re hearing from fans who have adopted the song as an anthem to keep them focused,  “There was this young lady” he says, “and she was in college getting her degree in art and she said that after hearing ‘Even If It Breaks Your Heart’ on the radio it inspired her to go back to painting.  She said thank you for inspiring her to do that. I think that if we can do that with this song it’s an incredible feeling knowing that these folks are going to go back and follow their dreams.”
