Country star hurt in accident that totals his SUV

Tracy Byrd and his wife Michelle are recovering after a car accident that totaled their Ford Excursion Tuesday (7/17) in Hardin County Texas. A Corpus Christi, Texas TV station says Michelle Byrd had two surgeries on her foot after being taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The police report says a 64-year-old woman driving a Toyota on a county road pulled out in front of the Byrd vehicle.  See photos of the crash here.

Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney's Brothers of the Sun tour is the highest-grossing concert for summer 2012,  raking in $4.2 million on average in each city they visit, according to Pollstar.  Their competition doesn't even come close. In the No. 2 spot is Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters with just over $2 million. The other country acts in Pollstar's Top 20 summer tours list are Lady Antebellum (at No. 15 with $490k per city), Miranda Lambert (No. 16, $433k) and Eric Church (No. 20, $321k).

 

Uncaged, the latest album from the Zac Brown Band roars onto Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and the all-genre Billboard 200 at the top spot this week, with an impressive 234,000 albums sold, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Kenny Chesney, who topped the country chart last week, sold 31,000 copies of Welcome to the Fishbowl this week, landing at No. 2 on the country chart. Luke Bryan's Tailgates and Tanlines remains at No. 3 again this week, at No. 4 is Hank Williams Jr., whose Old School, New Rules and Eric Church's Chief once again is in the No. 5 position.

Taylor Swift, who is rumored to be dating one of the Kennedy kids, will be honored by the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights for her “commitment to social change” with the Ripple of Hope Award at a black-tie dinner December 3rd in New York hosted by actor Alec Baldwin. The center’s president Kerry Kennedy said in a statement, "As a young person, Taylor has already accomplished so much, and I look forward to watching all that she will do to help build a brighter, more peaceful world for us all.”
