Kip went on to say that he would hitchhike to the beach every day and then surf and backpack all over the island for five or six days at a time. "I'd have my sleeping bag and that was it. I'd shower at the beaches and carry a bunch of tuna in my backpack and my guitar and I'd write songs and surf. That was it for about a half a year. I was a man of little means."
