"Cheers, It's Christmas!" Well, almost, anyway. Blake Shelton released his first Christmas CD at midnight today, featuring the much anticipated duet with his mom, Dorothy.
Not too many guys can say they wrote and sang a song with their mom. The song with Dorothy Shackleford is called "Time For Me To Come Home." Jason Aldean has the No. 1 country song. "Take a Little Ride" tops both the Billboard and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts this week. Right behind Jason on top of both charts is Jason's Broken Bow labelmate Dustin Lynch, whose "Cowboys and Angels" is No. 2. Jana Kramer's "Why Ya Wanna" and Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away" are No. 3 and 4. Rounding out the top five country songs this week is Hunter Hayes' Wanted.
All eyes are now on "Night Train", the new Jason Aldean album coming out Oct. 16. Jason may be pretty happy to have the focus turn to his new album and awa from the controversy surrounding photos taken that showed that he (in his own words) "acted inappropriately" with a former "American Idol" contestant in a Los Angeles bar. He apologized for his behavior, saying he had "screwed up."
Trace Adkins is the newest spokesman for the American Red Cross. The singer is urging fans and fellow Americans to do make charitable donations to the 2012 American Red Cross Holiday Giving Campaign. "When my home was claimed by fire last year, the Red Cross was among the first on-site," the 50-year-old recalls. "They looked after my family when I couldn't be there and offered to help in any way they could. I am supporting the Red Cross and their work to unite families and aid in times of need."
Taylor Swift says she has not officially signed on to play singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell in the upcoming film, "Girls Like Us," Taylor says the rumors are unfounded -- for now. "I'm not confirmed, actually," the 22-year-old tells Country Weekly magazine. "You never want to talk about something like that until it is a definite thing. I would love to tell that story. It would be amazing. It would be an interesting, fascinating, incredibly intelligent and wonderful character to play, but nothing is confirmed right now."
