Eric Church leads the 2013 ACM Awards nominees with seven nods, including Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year, for his platinum-selling, critically-acclaimed Chief. Hunter Hayes is just behind with six nominations, followed by Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift with five apiece. Up for the night's biggest honor, Entertainer of the Year, are Miranda, Taylor, Jason Aldean, and both of the show's co-hosts, Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan. Both the Entertainer and New Artist of the Year categories will be decided by you: the fans.
Not sure how this is going to work out but it's going to be fun to see how they handle it. Engaged couple Brantley Gilbert and Jana Kramer are up for ACM New Artist Of The Year. Fan voting begins March 25 at VoteACM.com.
The Band Perry has another chart-topper! "Better Dig Two," is the sibling trio's fastest-rising single and the third to reach No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Songs chart in their career. Having sold nearly one million copies since its release, "Dig" is the first taste of new music from the group's hotly-anticipated Republic Nashville album, which is due April 2. Tim McGraw has reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart with Two Lanes Of Freedom on Big Machine Records. The 14th time he has done that. Tim edged out by Josh Groban.
Country superstar Brad Paisley garners his 21st No. 1 single with “Southern Comfort Zone,” and has released the album cover art and the track listing for his 8th regular studio album, Wheelhouse, set for release on Arista Nashville on Tuesday, April 9. Beginning today, fans will be able to participate in an interactive reveal of the Wheelhouse and Wheelhouse (Deluxe Version) album covers at www.bradpaisley.com. The layered reveal experience includes a fan mosaic, hidden icons that unlock special items, an exclusive Brad Paisley making-of-the-album interview and information on how to enter a national sweepstakes.
Toby Keith will be presented with an official certificate from the Office of the Governor next month, declaring the Oklahoma-born singer-songwriter an Honorary Texan. Other notable Honorary Texans include Bob Dylan, Russell Crowe and Bob Hope. As we previously reported, Toby will also participate in the Hall of Fame Awards Show during the Texas Heritage Songwriters' Association Homecoming Weekend, presenting a musical tribute to one of his heroes, Hall of Fame inductee Roger Miller. The event takes place Sunday, March 3, at ACL Live at the Moody Theater in Austin.
