The newest show about wannabe stars performing for judges is coming to the CW next month (August 16th), starring John Rich. On "The Next: Fame Is at Your Doorstep," the mentors, including John, move in with up-and-coming musicians and guide them over a 72-hour period. In the hilarious new promo for the show (see below), John jokes with his costars -- rapper Nelly, pop singer Gloria Estefan and heartthrob Joe Jonas -- about being a less-than-ideal house guest when he gets in the shower for one gag, and at the end, he offers his best guess regarding what "CW" stands for. "The Next" premieres Aug. 16 on the CW.

It is now confirmed by the couple themselves. Jake Owen and his wife Lacey Buchanan Owen are having a baby girl, in November! Jake says he didn't know he was going to be a dad when he asked Lacey to marry him. He told People.com that the pregnancy was a bonus on top of the engagement and that he didn't want anyone to think he and Lacey got married because she was pregnant. Jake recalls, “From the day I met her, there was no doubt in my mind I wanted to marry her, and we always knew we wanted a family.” Lacey says they really wanted to keep quiet, too, until they knew whether there was a boy or a girl on the way, adding that the baby news “was just something we wanted to keep to ourselves for a little while.” You can see the full story on People.com.

Carrie told The Associated Press that being a role-model is "scary because no matter what happens in your life, something you do, wear, say, sing, whatever - somebody somewhere is probably not going to like it too well,"

Taylor Swift sings about people being mean to her, now she is being called mean. Taylor has never revealed show she was talking about in the scathing song "Dear John," but John Mayer's pretty sure it was about him and he doesn't think that's cool. In a new Rolling Stone interview, Mayer called "Dear John" cheap songwriting and said it made him feel terrible -- and he didn't deserve it. Mayer says he did nothing to deserve the song and says Swift -- his former musical collaborator -- kicked him when he was down. Taylor has never confirmed that the pair dated and when asked pointedly refused to say that song was about Mayer. "Dear John" is on Taylor's Speak Now album.

As for the winners, the CMT Music Awards Wednesday (June 6) night were pretty predictable. No big surprises. Carrie Underwood won the coveted Video Of The Year for "Good Girl". She thanked the fans for voting. She dedicated the award to her aunt and her aunt's family, starting to say why but then stopped short, just saying that she knew her aunt was watching. Carrie was also a winner in the Collaborative Video of the Year category, for her duet with Brad Paisley set in the desert for the song "Remind Me." Male Video of the Year honors went to Luke Bryan for his sexy "I Don't Want This Night to End" video. He said he removed the bullets from his house before he let his wife watched the video. And, Miranda Lambert took home the Female Video of the Year belt buckle trophy for her poignant "Over You" video, inspired by the untimely death of husband Blake Shelton's brother.
