If you would like to try something new and delicious as a thanksgiving turkey alternative or substitute, let me suggest barbecue Honey Badger! They can be difficult to catch, but if you get your hands on one and are able to take it out before it takes you out - you're are in for a sweet meaty treat!
Of course, I don't endorse hunting or killing a honey badger you self, I suggest searching for legal means of having the meat shipped to you for your thanksgiving turkey substitute or alternative.
If you can find such a source, honey badger makes a great Thanksgiving turkey alternative. While it is still "meat" its not your traditional meat. Its a little more rough and gamey. Probably something more along the lines of what the Pilgrims would have eaten on the first Thanksgiving.
