Holiday Meatballs For Everyone!

  • Print

Tis the season for holiday meatballs! Nearly every holiday get together is sure to include two things: someone who drank too much and meatballs! Don't be the person who drank too much. Instead, be the person who ate too many meatballs! To get you ready for holiday meatballs, here is one of my favorite recipes for "cocktail meatballs". Put these out at your holiday party and you're guests will be coming back for more.

Cocktail Meatballs

2 lbs frozen meatballs (any flavor, small size preferred)

1 (12-oz) bottle chili sauce

1 c firmly packed brown sugar

1 (16-oz) can whole berry cranberry sauce

1 (16-oz) can sauerkraut, with liquid

Pre-heat oven to 250̊.  Pour chili sauce into a large bowl, and add brown sugar, cranberry sauce, and sauerkraut.  Mix well, and stir in meatballs.  Pour into a large (9” x 13”) glass baking dish.  Bake 2 to 2½ hours.

Refrigerate if you don’t intend to serve them right away—they keep well for several days. To reheat, a crock pot works well, as does the microwave if you’re in a hurry.

The ingredients may seem like a strange combination, but no one ever suspects the sauerkraut, and it seems like I am always asked for the recipe when these are served.
