Heroes live in every neighborhood, serving their community and help inspire other people. You can honor those heroes by donating blood this month.
All eligible donors are asked to donate in May for National Trauma Awareness month. Every day, the American Red Cross must collect at least 14,000 donations each day to meet patient needs.
"Rolling up your sleeve to donate only takes about an hour, but can lead to more time for another birthday, another holiday, another opportunity to make memories for a patient receiving a transfusion," Michele Grimm, Donor Recruitment district manager, Red Cross Central Plains Blood Services Region.
If you would like to make an appointment to donate for a hero, click here, or call 1-800-RED-CROSS (use sponsor code Wichita Hero). You can also simplify things even more by downloading the Blood Donor App.
You can also find more information on how to donate and requirements here.
