Former teacher ordered to stand trial for child molestation
A former middle school teacher has been ordered to stand trial in Cowley County for child molestation.
46-year-old Noble "Rick" Pendland the Third is accused of molesting 5 children. He's facing 10 charges in 5 separate cases, mostly for aggravated indecent liberties with a child. The incidents occurred in 2010 and early 2011.
After a preliminary hearing in Arkansas City on Friday, Pendland was ordered to stand trial, and his arraignment was scheduled for June 21st.
Arkansas City police say a new victim has stepped forward to say that he was molested by Pendland. Cowley County attorney Christopher Smith says that is being investigated and no charges have been filed on that allegation.
Pendland was arrested last September in Wichita. He had been a middle school teacher in Wichita and in Arkansas City.
