Woman critically injured in ATV accident
A 25-year-old woman was transported to the hospital Sunday evening after an ATV accident. It happened around 5:30 p.m. in the 9400 block of South Broadway.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said the woman and a 25-year-old man were riding an ATV near 93rd Street South and Broadway. Sgt. Dale Butcher said the woman was sitting in front of the man with her legs over the handlebars while the man was steering the SUV.
The man told deputies he lost control on the gravel while trying to break and they struck a tree. The woman was transported by EMS to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis in Wichita in critical condition with head injuries.
The man was not seriously hurt.
