Sedgwick County open burn ban lifted
The Sedgwick County Fire Department has lifted the temporary ban on open burning, effective Monday.
The ban was enacted following a recommendation by the city of Wichita Environmental Services office due to high levels of ozone in Sedgwick County, which have returned to levels below the federal standards. Should ozone levels become elevated again, a ban may be reinstated by recommendation of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the city of Wichita’s Environmental Services office.
