Police identify victim in fatal Kellogg crash
Wichita Police have identified the man who was killed Friday night when a car he was riding in went out of control and crashed on the Kellogg Flyover.
Jerrod Moffett, 28, of Wichita was a passenger in a 2005 Scion that was trying to move into a center lane in the 500 block of West Kellogg. Lieutenant Joe Schroeder said another eastbound car was trying to move into the lane at the same time, and the Scion went out of control, hit a barrier wall and overturned.
Moffett, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car, and the car then rolled on top of him.
Schroder said witnesses reported the Scion was traveling at about 90 miles an hour before the crash. The 23-year-old driver of the car was treated at a hospital and then booked into jail for involuntary manslaughter and traffic charges.
Schroeder said officers want to talk to other witnesses, including the driver of the other car that tried to move into the center lane. Anyone with information should call the police accident follow-up section at 268-4131.
