Law enforcement officers in Butler County continue their search for a man in his 40s following an attempted kidnapping that happened Tuesday evening near Towanda.

Police say a 15-year-old girl was on a secluded road near the Towanda Cemetery when a man made a U-turn and held a piece of paper out of the car window.

The man then asked the 15-year-old to come look at it and when she did, he attempted to grab her. The girl was able to break away from the man and run home.

Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet said the girl gave deputies a description of a man with short, black hair with grey mixed in and a goatee. He also has a tattoo on his left arm. He was wearing a faded blue T-shirt with cargo shorts.

The vehicle used in the attempted kidnapping was a 1980s box-style, blue-colored vehicle with chrome bumpers, a dent on the rear passenger door of the driver's side and a sticker of the cartoon character Calvin on the back glass.

If you have information on the whereabouts of the suspect and the vehicle used in the attempted kidnapping, you are encouraged to call the Butler County Sheriff's Office at (316) 322-4254.
