Andover teenager dies after two-vehicle crash

A 16-year-old Andover girl died after her vehicle was broadsided at K-254 and Butler Road.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said Janel Balmer was driving north on Butler Road and failed to yield the right of way at the intersection with the highway. The Dodge van she was driving was struck by a 2007 Dodge van.
 
The crash took place at about 2:49 p.m. Wednesday. Balmer was pronounced dead at Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis.
 
Both occupants of the second vehicle were seriously injured. They are identified as 83-year-old Zelma Bahm, the driver, and Herbert Bahm, 87.
